I work mostly in acrylics and watercolour and will paint just about anything that catches my eye, whether figurative, scenes from my travels, botanical subjects or quirky interpretations of everyday sights. I work mostly from my own photographs to capture that exact moment of contrast between light and dark, an interesting reflection, shape or texture. My subjects are usually bright and colourful and often viewed from an interesting perspective, focusing attention on one specific area, as with my paintings of custom cars for example.
I have worked in fine art publishing, interior design & decoration and have received many varied commissions including painting murals, trompe l’oeil, and design in the corporate world. All these tasks demand great attention to detail and this is perhaps reflected in my paintings and most particularly in my botanical drawings.
MY CUSTOM CAR PAINTINGS
This series of canvases was inspired by an unexpected trip to a custom car show one sunny summer afternoon. What glitzy, theatrical beauties these cars are - polished to perfection by their adoring owners !! I loved the reflective surfaces, gleaming chrome, brilliant paint finishes, and their sleek, curvy lines. The perfect subject for a few pictures.
I have also produced a series of botanical pictures. A couple of examples are shown here, and with the wealth of inspiration all around, there is no shortage of fresh subject matter

Other paintings of mine depict various locations that I have visited in France.
